One of the great aspects of participating in this annual event is that you get the benefit of free advertising. The Simonton Lake Area Homeowners Association pays for the ads placed in the Elkhart Truth.  These ads help broadcast the garage sale to all tourists and visitors in the area. The items that will cost money will be all the items you place up for sale during this grand event.  In addition to those pre-paid ads, the Association will also place direction signs up so all garage sale enthusiasts can find their way to your yard.


When is the Garage Sale held?
This event is held every year and it takes place during the first week of May. That is an ideal time as the weather is just right. Plus, the event is held on the first Friday and Saturday of the month.  You may have missed the sale this year, but you can now have 8 months to prepare for the next great Garage Sale in 2024. It is a fun time for all as you get to meet new people, clear out the clutter in your home, and make some money while having a great time.


In the event of rain or other storms contact the SLAHA for updates and if the sale will be postponed or not. If you missed the Spring Garage Sale do not worry, there will be the annual Fall event held at the end of September.  Check with the Simonton Lake Area Homeowners Association for specific times and dates. This is an event you should not miss.


The show must go on
One of the best features of the annual SLAHA Garage Sale is that the Homeowners association always finds a way to keep it from being canceled. This dedication to the annual event sparks a lot of enthusiasm in the sellers and builds confidence in the event.


Even COVID did not cancel this neighborhood fun time. The event was held four months later and it was a resounding success. The participation is growing. One year the Sale had 56 homes participating and that was a record at that time.  With that many families involved, you know you will find some great treasures at affordable prices. That is what makes this event so special. It is like a treasure hunt except this treasure is not a buried secret.

Who can participate
For those people who want to join the host of sellers, just contact the SLAHA for all the details. But even if you do not become a seller, you can support your neighbors by visiting their garage sales and seeing what you can find.

This event is an exciting time as you never know what valuable object you will find. It is something that the whole family joins in and has quality time together.  This annual event is a win-win for everyone and is one of the most positive features of living or visiting Simonton Lake.
